Why WHH?

Toronto has the highest urban child poverty rate in the country. Between 38-45% of all children and families in West Hill are living in poverty.  This is simply unacceptable.

We believe in a multifaceted approach to alleviating poverty, and WHH is one small step in that direction.  A struggling mother shouldn’t have to choose between a gift for her child and a meal the next day,  let alone face two weeks of school vacation with no food in the house.

Children who are a visible minority, Indigenous children, children from single-parent or newcomer families, and children with disabilities are more likely to experience poverty in Toronto.

We have helped over 300 community members from dozens of families. Most of them have been children with single mothers, many of them are newcomers,  and all of them are from one of the most diverse areas of the city. The character of a community is truly shown in how it cares for it’s most vulnerable members, and that is who WHH serves.

100% of all donations go directly to the families we work with. All families have demonstrated financial need. Every step is volunteer run and WHH has complete financial transparency.

We keep is simple. Join us and make a small difference in the lives of deserving people this holiday season.
